Do you have Diastasis Recti, aka - SPLIT ABS?
If you teach group fitness classes or hold fit clubs or Challenge Groups - like I do - you may find that some of your clients have this. I do and it's pretty bad.
Of course, if your clients have "split abs" they should ask their doctor what to do. But I have heard the same thing from many - which equates to PILATES exercises. OR - the dreaded surgery to put them back together. (Which is basically what I need.)
When doing abdominal exercises in classes, the ones that really don't do us any good are those where we are seated and draw the needs in or pilates roll ups (if they aren't totally engaged from the transverse level) or anything where they will tend to 'pop out' instead of pull in.
What's best is oblique work and transverse - ex: just laying on your back with bent knees feet touching the floor and lifting one foot off at at time just 1/4 inch off. Alternating. Side planks - low or high. Etc.

It's hard to beat the combination of strawberry and banana in this low-fat ice cream.

Whole Wheat Waffles
Try these whole wheat waffles for breakfast when you need a quick meal. (from www.TurboAmanda.com )

6 tsp. baking powder
¼ cup ground flax seed
½ tsp. sea salt

2 Tbsp. safflower oil
Nonstick cooking spray

CUCUMBER & TOMATO SALAD
Yummy quick salad based on Beachbody's Ultimate Reset recipe.
1 cucumber, sliced in thick half-moons (opt 1/2 peeled)
1/4 small container plum or cherry tomatoes cut in half
1 Tbsp chopped red onion
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp EVOO
1Tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves
Himalayan salt (to taste)
Herbal seasoning (to taste)
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and toss well. Serves 1.

In a lg wok or pan heat oils over high heat. Add carrot and cook 1-2min. Add broccoli and cook 5min more. Add remaining veggies and reduce heat to med. Cook stirring until veg are tender-crisp. Turn off heat and add aminos or salt. Stir well. Serves 1.

TURKEY TACO SALAD
For a great dinner - or even for lunch - check out this Turkey Taco Salad.
4oz lean white meat ground turkey
1 minced garlic clove
1/4 cup canned tomato sauce
Mix above ingredients and simmer 5min.
2 cups romaine lettuce
3 sliced black olives
2 slices of avocado
2 Tbsp cheddar cheese shredded
5 crushed tortilla chips, crushed
1 Tbsp Ranch dressing
Heat skillet with nonstick cooking spray over med heat. Add the garlic, turkey, and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5min, or until turkey is cooked through. Meanwhile, pile the lettuce onto a dinner plate and top with olives, avocado, cheese, and tortilla chips. Spoon turkey onto salad and drizzle with ranch dressing. Option: use a dollop of plain greek yogurt to use as sour cream instead of the dressing. It adds protein! Serves 1.

1/4 cup chopped jicama
1/4 cup toasted seeds and nuts (like cashews, pecans, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds.) fresh herbs (like basil, oregano, parsley, dill) to taste.
Mix all - serves 1.
Dressing - Use your own low-fat, low-sugar dressing or try this one!
BASIC VINAIGRETTE
1/2 cup EVOO
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 tsp Himalayan salt
1 tsp ground black pepper

1 cucumber chopped into half-moons or diced
1 ripe tomato, diced or in wedges 5 pitted and sliced Kalamata olives (optional)
1 Tbsp toasted pine nuts (optional)
1 Tbsp reduced fat feta cheese (optional)
3 oz grilled chicken breast, chopped
w/1 serving of Greek Dressing
Toss all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy! Serves 1.

1/2 cup EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp dried oregano
